SNC Authentication

This page shows how to use encrypted communication via Secure Network Communication (SNC) between Xtract Universal.iQ and SAP. For more information on SNC, see SAP Help: Secure Network Communication (SNC)

Prerequisites

  • Secure Network Connection (SNC) is configured in your SAP system. For more information about SNC configuration in SAP, see SAP Help: Configuring the Application Server.
  • Check the SAP profile parameter snc/gssapi_lib in SAP transaction RZ10 to determine which library is used for the encryption in your SAP system. The same library must be uploaded in Xtract Universal.iQ when setting up an SNC connection, e.g., sapcrypto.dll.
  • Enable Transport Layer Security in the Xtract Universal.iQ Server Settings.

SNC Authentication

To set up an SAP connection that uses SNC:

  1. Open the Connections menu.
  2. Click [Add Connection].
  3. Enter a unique name in the Connection Name field, e.g., the name of your SAP system.
  4. Select SAP RFC from the Connection Type dropdown. The corresponding settings open.
  5. Enter the system details of your SAP system in the system settings. You can find input values in the properties of the SAP Logon Pad or you can request them from your SAP Basis team.
  6. Enter the SAP credentials of an SAP system or dialog user in the authentication settings.
  7. Set the toggle in the authentication settings to Secure Network Communication (SNC).
  8. Click SNC library path to upload the encryption library used by the SAP system, e.g., sapcrypto.dll.
  9. Enter the SAP partner name configured for the SAP application server in the field SNC partner name, e.g., p:SAPserviceERP/Alice@THEOBALD.LOCAL.
  10. Click [Test Connection] to validate the connection parameters.
A window with a status message opens in the bottom right corner of the window.
  11. If the connection is successful, click [Save].

The SNC connection is now listed in the Connections menu and can be used as a source for services.
