Settings
This page shows how to configure global settings in Enterprise Glossary. The settings allow administrators to customize the application. To open the settings, click the gear icon button () in the navigation bar, then select Settings.
General
The General settings define the default configuration and behavior of Enterprise Glossary for all users. Users can override some general settings in their user profile.
Apply Settings to Existing Users
To apply name formats and Home screen settings to existing users, click Apply Settings to Existing Users in the upper left corner of the settings. A popup window opens, where you can:
- Select the settings you want to apply.
- Select users based on their user role to apply the settings to.
This overrides the settings the users have defined in their user profile.
Time Zone
Select the default time zone for the application, e.g., to run synchronization jobs. Users can set their individual time zone in their user profile.
Directory
Define the name format of folders in the Enterprise Glossary sidebar. You can select one of the following display formats:
- Name: Displays the folder name.
- Description: Displays the folder description.
- Description [Name]: Displays the folder description followed by the folder name in brackets.
- Name [Description]: Displays the folder name followed by the folder description in brackets.

This setting can be overwritten in the individual user profiles.
SAP Name Format
Define the name format of SAP Entities. You can select the display format for each Connector. The available format options depend on the attributes of the connector, e.g., technical names, descriptions, and other properties.
Example
For an SAP S/4HANA object with the following values:
- Technical Name: ZCDS_PO_ITEM.
- Description: Purchase Order Item.

This setting can be overwritten in the individual user profiles.
Display leading zeros in restrictions
Enable the this option to show leading zeros in restrictions. If disabled, leading zeroes are omitted.

Welcome Message
Customize the default Welcome message shown on the Home screen.
Tile
Enter the title of the tile for the German language version and the English language version of Enterprise Glossary.
Welcome Message
Click Editor to open a text editor that allows you to enter a custom welcome message for the German language version and the English language version of Enterprise Glossary. You can use the control buttons in the editor to format text, add images, code blocks, tables, and external links or links to Entities.
Home
Customize the default Home screen for each default user role. Select a layout (arrangement and number of tiles) and assign content to the tiles using the Elements dropdown fields. In the Elements section, you can assign content to each tile.
Entities
The Entities settings contain adjustments regarding the Versioning and Discussions of Entities and Custom Entities.
Version Comments
Version comments can be added when publishing a new or recently changed Entity. They can be used to explain the changes.
Version Commenting
Enable or disable comments in the version history of Entities and Custom Entities.
Commenting Mandatory
Make adding comments when publishing a new version of an Entity or Custom Entity mandatory.
Number of Allowed Characters
Limit the length of comments to the specified number of characters.
Discussion on Entities
One or more forum styled discussions can be started inside an Entity or Custom Entity for users to exchange ideas.
Discussions on Entities
Enable or disable discussions in Entities and Custom Entities.
Like Function
Enable or disable the like function of discussion posts in Entities and Custom Entities.
Customization
The Customization settings define the appearance of the Enterprise Glossary.
You can customize the look of Enterprise Glossary to fit your organization's color palette.
Images
Upload images to replace the following default images in Enterprise Glossary:

After the images are uploaded, click the Save to apply the changes.
Colors

| General Button | Refers to buttons across Enterprise Glossary. |
| Headlines | Refers to the color of headlines inside menus, e.g., the first level headline "Colors" and the second level headline "General Buttons". |
| Navigation Bar | Refers to the top navigation that also contains the search bar. |
| Function Panel | Refers to the menu bar inside menus, e.g., the menu bar that contains the Save option for the customization. |
| Function Panel: Template Category | Refers to category headers inside Entities and Templates. |
After the changing the colors, click the Save to apply the changes.
License
The License settings contain information about licensed features and expiration dates. To upload a new license, click Load License in the upper left corner of the license settings.
Single Sign On (SSO)
The Single Sign On (SSO) settings contain options for using SSO with Microsoft Active Directory. Active Directory refers to Microsoft's traditional on-premises tool for managing local computers and office networks.
Prerequisites
The Enterprise Glossary login needs the following permissions to read user information from Active Directory:
- Read access to user objects and attributes
- Read access to the organizational units (OUs) where the objects reside
Enterprise Glossary uses Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) to perform queries against the AD domain services hierarchy.
Add Domains
To add one or more Microsoft Active Directory domains to Enterprise Glossary:
- Open Enterprise Glossary.
- Click the gear icon button () in the navigation bar, then select Settings. The General settings opens.
- Go to the Single Sign-On (SSO) settings.
- In the upper-left corner of the Single Sign-On (SSO) settings, click Add SSO configuration, then select Add Domain. The domain settings open.
- Fill out the domain settings:
- Enter the name of the domain in the field Domain Name.
- Enter a description of the domain in the field Description.
- Select the default roles assigned to users that are automatically created when logging in.
- If the web server is not located in the domain, enter login credentials.
- Click Test Domain to test the connection to the Active Directory domain.
- Click Save to add the domain and return to the Single Sign-On (SSO) settings.
The domain is now listed under Active Directory Domains.
Next, import users of the Active Directory in the Manage Users menu or enable Automatic User Login and Create New Users at Login to create users automatically at login.
The Email settings contain the email settings entered during the setup of Enterprise Glossary.
Properties
Displayed Email
Enter the email address that is used for all email notifications.
Displayed Name
Enter the name that is displayed as sender for all email notifications.
SMTP Settings
You can use a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server to send email notifications from Enterprise Glossary to users.
Server
Enter the SMTP server address used to send email notifications to Enterprise Glossary users.
Port
Enter the SMTP server port used to send email notifications to Enterprise Glossary users.
Use SSL/TLS
Enable or disable Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to encrypt the link between Enterprise Glossary and the SMTP server.
Enter the email address used to authenticate with the SMTP server.
Password
Enter the password for the SMTP account used to authenticate with the SMTP server.
Logging
The Logging settings enable different levels of logging for diagnosing errors. Logging takes place on the client in the browser. The setting are applied immediately, no saving option required.

To download the log file, click Download Log File in the upper left corner of the logging menu.
Clean-Up
The Clean-Up settings contain limits and clean-ups for storing old versions of Entities and Custom Entities. The limitation reduces the number of versions that is kept for each Entity also reduces the amount of data needed to store them.
To manually start a clean-up run, save any changes and click Execute Clean-Up in the upper left corner of the clean-up settings.
Execution Schedule
Active
Enable or disable scheduled clean-up runs in Enterprise GLossary.
Start Date
Enter the start date for scheduled clean-up runs in Enterprise GLossary. It is recommended to choose a time where the Enterprise Glossary is not heavily used.
Number of Entity Versions
Remove versions older than this number of days
Entity versions that are older than the specified number of days are removed up to the limited number of version defined in Keep this minimum number of versions per Entity.
Keep this minimum number of versions per Entity
Keep the specified number of versions per Entity, even when a version is older than the number specified in Remove versions older than this number of days.
