SAP S/4HANA
This page shows how to connect Xtract Universal.iQ Enterprise Glossary to SAP S/4HANA.
Note
The Xtract Universal.iQ Enterprise Glossary standard license only allows one connection to an SAP S/4HANA system.
Prerequisites
- Ensure that the user that is used to connect to SAP S/4HANA has access rights to the required metadata, see SAP Requirements - S/4HANA Authorization Objects.
- Depending on your SAP system, you may need to install the custom function module RFC_GET_STRING, see SAP Requirements - Installation of RFC_GET_STRING.
Create an SAP S/4HANA Connection
To connect Xtract Universal.iQ Enterprise Glossary to SAP S/4HANA:
- Open Enterprise Glossary.
- Click the gear icon button () in the navigation bar, then select Connections. The "Connections" menu opens.
- In the upper-left corner of the "Connections" menu, click [Add Connection], then select SAP S/4HANA.
- Enter a unique name for the connection in the Name field.
- Enter the connection details of the SAP S/4HANA system in the SAP S/4HANA System section.
- Enter the credentials of an SAP S/4HANA user with the required access rights in the Log In section.
- Click [Save] to create the connection and return to the "Connections" menu.
The new SAP S/4HANA connection is now listed under Created Connections.
Next, create a Synchronization Job to load supported objects as Entities to Enterprise Glossary.
Settings
The following is a list of all settings in the SAP S/4HANA connection menu and their descriptions.
Properties
The Properties section contains general settings for the SAP S/4HANA connection.
Name
Enter a unique name for the connection to identify it within Enterprise Glossary.
SAP S/4HANA System
The SAP S/4HANA System section contains the system details of the SAP S/4HANA system.
SID
Enter the system ID (SID) of your SAP S/4HANA system. The SID is a three-digit ID (Property SID), e.g., MSS, S4H, etc.
Server
Enter the hostname or domain of the SAP S/4HANA server (Property Host), e.g., s4h.example.com.
Instance
Enter the SAP instance number. The instance number is a two-digit number between 00 and 99 (Property SystemNumber).
Client
Enter the SAP client number. The client number is a three-digit number of the SAP client between 000 and 999, e.g., 800.
Function Module Prefix
Optional: enter the function module prefix used for the function module RFC_GET_STRING. Depending on the version of your SAP system, the function module is optional, see Function module RFC_GET_STRING.
SAP Router String
Optional: enter the SAP router string when a router is used for the network path.
Logon Group
Optional: enter the logon group if required by your SAP environment (Property Host), e.g., PUBLIC.
Delimiter
Optional: enter the delimiter used to load data from SAP. The default delimiter is ¦. If the delimiter character is used in SAP descriptions or other field values, use a different delimiter to prevent parsing issues.
Data Preview
The Data Preview section contains the settings for the Open Service / Data Preview feature in SAP S/4HANA Entities.
HTTPS-Port
Enter the port of your SAP S/4HANA system to enable the Open Service / Data Preview feature in SAP S/4HANA Entities. The data preview feature allows you to directly access the S/4HANA objects from within Enterprise Glossary.
Log In
The Log In section contains the credentials of an SAP S/4HANA user that is used to create the connection.
Username
Enter the username of an SAP S/4HANA user with enough access rights to read the required metadata.
Password
Enter the password of the SAP S/4HANA user.
