Xtract Universal.iQ Designer

This page shows how to connect Xtract Universal.iQ Enterprise Glossary to the Xtract Universal.iQ Designer.

Note

The Xtract Universal.iQ Enterprise Glossary standard license only allows one connection to an Xtract Universal.iQ Designer.

Create an Xtract Universal.iQ Designer Connection

To connect Xtract Universal.iQ Enterprise Glossary with the Xtract Universal.iQ Designer:

  1. Open Enterprise Glossary.
  2. Click the gear icon button () in the navigation bar, then select Connections. The "Connections" menu opens.
  3. In the upper-left corner of the "Connections" menu, click Add Connection, then select Xtract Universal.iQ Designer.
  4. Enter a unique name for the connection in the Name field, for example Xtract Universal.iQ Designer.
  5. Enter the base URL of the Xtract Universal.iQ Designer instance in the Endpoint field, for example https://example.com:8175/ or http://192.12.XXX.XXX:8075/.
  6. If the Designer requires authentication, enter the username and password of a Designer user in the Username and Password fields.
  7. Optional: map SAP connections used in Enterprise Glossary to SAP connections used in the Designer.
  8. Click [Save] to create the connection and return to the "Connections" menu.

The new Xtract Universal.iQ Designer connection is now listed under Created Connections.

Next, create a Synchronization Job to load supported objects as Entities to Enterprise Glossary.

Settings

The following is a list of all settings in the Xtract Universal.iQ Designer connection menu and their descriptions.

Properties

The Properties section contains general settings for the Xtract Universal.iQ Designer connection.

Name

Enter a unique name for the connection to identify it within Enterprise Glossary.

Xtract Universal.iQ System

The Xtract Universal.iQ System section contains the system details of the Xtract Universal.iQ Designer.

Xtract Universal.iQ Designer Endpoint

Enter the base URL of your Xtract Universal.iQ Designer instance, e.g., https://example.com:8175/ or http://192.12.XXX.XXX:8075/. Use the service port defined in the Xtract Universal.iQ Designer settings.

Default ports:

  • HTTP (without Transport Layer Security): 8075
  • HTTPS (with Transport Layer Security): 8175

Note

localhost and 127.0.0.1 are invalid endpoints, even if the Designer runs on the same host machine as the Enterprise Glossary. Use the host machine's actual IP address instead.

Log In

The Log In section contains the credentials of an Xtract Universal.iQ Designer user.

The following settings only apply if the Xtract Universal.iQ Designer has Access Control / Transport Layer Security (TLS) enabled.

Username

Enter the username of an Xtract Universal.iQ Designer user, see Designer: User Management.

Password

Enter the password of the Xtract Universal.iQ Designer user.

Data Preview

The Data Preview section contains the settings for the Open Service / Data Preview feature in Xtract Universal.iQ Entities.

HTTP/HTTPS Port

Enter the port of your Xtract Universal.iQ Designer instance to enable the Open Service / Data Preview feature in Xtract Universal.iQ Entities. The data preview feature allows you to directly access the Xtract Universal.iQ service from within Enterprise Glossary.

Default ports:

  • HTTP (without Transport Layer Security): 8077
  • HTTPS (with Transport Layer Security): 8177

Connection Mapping

You can map SAP connections used in Enterprise Glossary to SAP connections used in the Xtract Universal.iQ Designer. This allows Enterprise Glossary to enrich the metadata of Xtract Universal.iQ services with additional data from the SAP source system.

To map existing Enterprise Glossary connections, click the pen icon () in the Actions column of the connection. Enter the name of an SAP connection that exists in the Designer, then click [Save] to save the mapping.
