SAP Requirements

This page contains information about SAP requirements for using Enterprise Glossary. Redirect this page to your SAP Basis administrators to get the relevant authorization objects for your SAP connection user and to install required function modules.

SAP Access Rights

To connect Enterprise Glossary to an SAP system, you need an SAP user with sufficient authorization in SAP. Authorizations are assigned via authorization objects in SAP.

S4/HANA Authorization Objects

Theobald Software collected and combined the necessary authorizations for S/4HANA into an SAP role. You can download the SAP profile and upload it to your SAP system or you can manually create a role based on the documentation below.

Custom Function Module RFC_GET_STRING

The custom function module RFC_GET_STRING is used during synchronization to load metadata from connected SAP systems into Enterprise Glossary.

The following SAP versions do not require the installation of the custom function module RFC_GET_STRING:

SAP 7.50 SP23
SAP 7.51 SP13
SAP 7.52 SP09
SAP 7.53 SP07
SAP 7.54 SP05
SAP 7.55 SP03
SAP 7.56 SP01

SAP NetWeaver RFC Library

Enterprise Glossary uses the SAP NetWeaver RFC SDK that allows external applications to connect to SAP systems using RFC communication. You can download the Netweaver library from the SAP Software Download Center. To use the library in Enterprise Glossary, copy the library files into the following directory of the sync server container image or mount it into the container at runtime: /app/runtimes/linux-x64/native.
